  • Cake
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup All Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk chocolate or white chocolate chips)
  • Garnish
  • Icing sugar

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9” (23 cm) cake pan.
  • Cake: Place all ingredients (except chocolate chips) in food processor. Process until batter is smooth. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Spoon into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
